Shooting in Mechanic Street Alley Leaves Teen Dead, Three Others Injured

CUMBERLAND, MD — A 17-year-old male died and three other individuals sustained injuries in a shooting that occurred in an alley in the Mechanic Street area early this morning, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

The Cumberland Police received a report of the incident at 1:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a chaotic scene with one male victim, age 17, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite receiving medical aid from both the police and the Cumberland Fire Department, the victim was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Additional law enforcement agencies, including the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit, assisted in the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, three more gunshot victims associated with this incident arrived at the hospital. These individuals, between the ages of 20 and 24, had injuries described as non-life-threatening.

As of the time of the police department’s latest press release, the investigation continues and no arrests have been made.
