Germantown Maintenance Worker Scores $50,000 in Scratch-Off Game

GERMANTOWN, MD – A 53-year-old maintenance worker from Germantown struck gold in the Maryland Lottery’s $50,000 Cash game, becoming the 74th top prize winner. The man, who has a tradition of buying scratch-offs with friends, won the top prize of $50,000.

The group has been engaging in this ritual for six years, each purchasing their own tickets. While there is typically no three-way split on winnings, the winner plans to give a small gift to his friends.

The winning ticket, purchased at Germantown BP located at 19911 Aircraft Drive in Montgomery County, revealed the $50,000 prize under the number 03, which also appeared in the “Winning Numbers” section of the scratch-off. The man verified the win in the store.

For its role in selling the winning ticket, the Germantown BP retailer will receive a $500 bonus. The $50,000 Cash game, which launched on Dec. 29, still has 86 top prizes remaining, in addition to various other cash prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
