PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Police Department is reaching out to the community for help in identifying individuals shown in a video clip.
These individuals are connected to a theft incident at Amera Gas Station, located at 4708 W, Girard Ave.
The suspects made their escape in a small silver sedan and a Black SUV.
On September 27, 2023, Philadelphia experienced a wave of looting incidents, sparked by a legal verdict earlier on September 26, where all charges were dropped against a local police officer involved in a fatal shooting incident. The looting targeted various establishments across the city.
Specific incidents include looting at the South Philly Pharmacy and a Target store on the 7400 block of Bustleton Avenue. Moreover, a group of individuals, including two identified suspects, utilized a stolen Dodge Durango to loot the Olive Tree Pharmacy located on the 200 block of South 60th Street in West Philadelphia, employing a crowbar for forced entry while having lookouts for police presence.
This spate of lawlessness led to the arrest of dozens of individuals, with a total of 49 adults and three juveniles taken into custody.
The looters, mostly young individuals, ransacked upscale retail stores in what was described as an hours-long crime spree. Interestingly, police stated that this looting spree was not related to the protests that had taken place, even though it followed a judge’s decision to dismiss charges against a police officer, a verdict that ignited widespread discontent and presumably catalyzed the looting incidents.
The public is cautioned not to approach these individuals and to dial 911 immediately upon sighting.
