CAPE MAY, NJ – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, alongside Chief Jennifer Pooler of the Middle Township Police Department, announced the arrest of Jorge A. Aviles, 32, of Rio Grande.

Aviles has been apprehended for the distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

On Wednesday, multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force, executed search warrants at Aviles’ residence in the Rio Grande area. They confiscated approximately 2,800 bags of suspected heroin, $753 in U.S. currency, and a dagger.

Tests on previously seized heroin from the investigation tested positive for Fentanyl and Xylazine, a lethal combination.

Aviles now faces several charges, including possession with intent to distribute, money laundering, and possession of a prohibited weapon. He is currently held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility, awaiting court proceedings.
