CUMBERLAND, MD – On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the Cumberland City Police executed a warrant service in the 1000 block of Industrial Blvd. Officers found Nalesia McCauley, 22, of Cumberland, MD, seated in a parked vehicle. According to the Cumberland Police Department, “Officers then made contact with McCauley and had her exit the vehicle. Officers then advised McCauley she was under arrest and attempted to place her in handcuffs.”
However, the arrest didn’t go as smoothly as planned.
McCauley reportedly pulled away from the officers and attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued her and apprehended her a short time later. McCauley was also served with two active arrest warrants issued by the Allegany County District Court.
The first warrant dates back to an incident on May 28, 2023, where McCauley is accused of providing false statements and identification during an active police investigation. The second warrant stems from an alleged assault on a female subject on June 16, 2023, in the area of E. First St. McCauley faces multiple charges including “Resist Arrest, Fail to Obey, Disorderly Conduct,” along with charges of “False Statement to Peace Officer x5, Fraud-Per. Ident. Avoid Prosecution x2,” and “Assault 2nd Degree, Affray, Disorderly Conduct” related to the two outstanding warrants.
After her arrest, McCauley was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently being held on a total bond of $3000.
