Elkton Man Wins $50,000 Lottery Prize Following Daughter's Advice

An Elkton resident, who prefers to go by the nickname “Blessed,” won a $50,000 top prize in the Big Money scratch-off game, attributing his fortune to his daughter’s recommendation. The father of three was initially hesitant about playing the specific scratch-off but changed his mind based on his daughter’s suggestion.

“Blessed,” a healthcare worker residing in Cecil County, said, “I wasn’t going to play that one but my daughter talked me into it.” He purchased the winning ticket at the local 7-Eleven store, located at 321 North Street in Elkton. His daughter, an avid fan of scratch-off games, was present at the moment of discovery. The winning $50,000 prize was revealed under a symbol of a stack of cash on the last block of the ticket.

Upon realizing he had won, “Blessed” said, “I couldn’t believe it.” A family celebration ensued, involving dancing and singing as he shared the news with his wife and another daughter.

The fortunate winner has pragmatic plans for his windfall. He intends to invest a portion of the prize money into a Certificate of Deposit (CD) and save the rest. He is also contemplating the possibility of purchasing a new home.

The Big Money scratch-off game was launched in March 2023 and initially offered eight top prizes. One top prize remains unclaimed, along with three $5,000 second-tier prizes and additional rewards ranging from $5 to $1,000. The 7-Eleven store that sold the winning ticket is also set to receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in the transaction.
