ELKTON, MD – An ordinary morning became extraordinary for a Western Maryland man when he realized he had won a $50,000 Powerball prize. The retired state employee from Cecil County, who consistently participates in every Powerball drawing, had purchased a $2 ticket for the Sept. 27 draw.
Upon checking his quick-pick ticket the subsequent morning, the Elkton local found he had secured the third-tier prize. “It was a nice way to wake up and start my day,” he shared.
For that particular draw, the winning numbers were 1, 7, 46, 47, 63, with the Powerball being 7. Although he had the number 11 in place of 1 on his ticket, it was still sufficient to clinch the $50,000 prize.
The loyal Powerball enthusiast, despite fluctuating jackpot amounts, always purchases a single $2 ticket for each draw. “It doesn’t matter if the jackpot is high or low, I buy a ticket for every game,” he emphasized.
While the 68-year-old remains uncertain on how to allocate his winnings, it’s worth noting that his fortuitous ticket was bought from Wesley’s Restaurant situated at 3700 Telegraph Road in Cecil County. Remarkably, he was the sole Maryland winner of the $50,000 prize in the Sept. 27 drawing and is among 17 third-tier winners since the last jackpot was claimed on July 19.
