SYRACUSE, NY – City departments unite to address illegal activity in vacant properties on East Laurel Street.
On October 3rd, the City of Syracuse C.P.T.E.D. team intervened in the 500 block of East Laurel Street due to numerous complaints regarding multiple vacant properties linked to illicit activities.
C.P.T.E.D., representing Crime Prevention through Environmental Design, is an integrated method aiming to deter criminal actions by enhancing the appearance and ambiance of places.

The collaboration witnessed the Department of Public Works, Code Enforcement, and the Syracuse Police Department. Together, they confronted trespassers and took steps to enhance the state of the vacant properties. Actions included clearing overgrown vegetation, disposing of trash, boarding up windows and doors, and addressing other related concerns.
