Hillsborough Secures 15-7 Victory Over Union Behind Strong Defensive Play

UNION, NJ – Hillsborough defeats Union 15-7, riding a strong defensive performance and early scoring to improve their season record to 5-1.

Quarterback Alex Reiling of Hillsborough had a modest game, completing passes for 11 yards. The rushing game was led by Jackson Jankowicz, who racked up 77 yards and made a significant impact with a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. On the receiving end, Chimmy Ozokopor made his presence known with 11 receiving yards.

Union’s O’Malley King threw for 93 yards, but the defense of Hillsborough was too formidable. Shayne Powell registered two sacks and an interception for Hillsborough, while Jonathan Lobelo tallied 12 total tackles. Union’s Kordal Hinton led the rushing effort with 79 yards, and Cedrick Raymond caught passes totaling 53 yards.

The game saw its only scores in the first and third quarters. Hillsborough came out strong with a 92-yard kickoff return by Jankowicz and a 3-yard run by Lobelo to put up 15 points in the first quarter. Union answered with a 13-yard pass from King to Raymond in the third quarter, but failed to make a comeback.

With the win, Hillsborough moves to a 5-1 record in the Big Central conference, while Union drops to 4-2. Both teams will look to their next games as crucial matchups in the ongoing season.
