CAMBRIDGE, MD – A juvenile curfew ordinance, initially enacted as a pilot program, has been extended for another year by the Cambridge City Council.

The original ordinance, No. 1207, took effect on February 1, 2023, and was set to expire on June 30, 2023. After a vote on September 25, 2023, the city council passed Ordinance No. 1229, extending the curfew for an additional 12 months, effective starting October 1, 2023.

The ordinance is in line with the Maryland Code and the Charter of the City of Cambridge, empowering the Commissioners of Cambridge to establish a curfew to keep minors off the streets during unreasonable hours for the overall welfare and safety of the community.

The full text of the extended ordinance will be available on the City of Cambridge website shortly. Residents are encouraged to read the ordinance carefully.
