COVINGTON, KY — Johnathan Paul Hornsby, a 32-year-old resident of Erlanger, Kentucky, was sentenced to 204 months in federal prison for drug and firearm offenses.
U.S. District Judge David Bunning imposed the sentence on Thursday after Hornsby’s earlier guilty plea. Hornsby was charged with possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Hornsby was arrested on September 30, 2022, following a traffic stop. He was taken into custody due to an active warrant. During the arrest, officers discovered a loaded handgun, 16.8 grams of methamphetamine, and over $500 in his possession. Hornsby later admitted to plans to distribute the methamphetamine and said he carried the firearm for protection.
Hornsby entered a guilty plea in May and, under federal law, is required to serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Following his release, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for five years.
