PITTSBURGH, PA – Diontae Carter, 17, has been arrested on a homicide warrant related to the shooting death of Mohamed Hussein, which took place on Excelsior Street on September 19.
The arrest was a coordinated effort involving the Pittsburgh Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Violent Crime Unit detectives, and the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force. Carter was apprehended without incident and is charged as an adult under Act 33. The charges include Criminal Homicide, Robbery, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor. He has been transported to Allegheny County Jail.
On the day of the incident, Pittsburgh Police from Zone 3 were dispatched to the 700 block of Excelsior Street at 10:43 a.m. following reports of a shooting. The first responders found a juvenile male, later identified as Mohamed Hussein, with a gunshot wound to the torso. Hussein was transported to the hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
