South Jersey Man Gets Two Years for Making Bomb

CAMDEN, NJ – Thomas Petronglo, 64, of Vineland, New Jersey, was sentenced to 24 months in prison today for possession of a destructive device and explosive materials, announced U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.

According to court filings, Petronglo pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler to an indictment that included one count of possessing a destructive device and one count of unlawful storage of explosives. The sentence was imposed today in federal court in Camden.

On March 12, 2021, Petronglo was discovered to have a destructive device, specifically a 5 ¾-inch diameter metal can filled with a mixture of potassium perchlorate and aluminum, with a fuse protruding from the device. Multiple other intact improvised explosive devices and explosive materials were also found at his residence.
