TRENTON, NJ – Assembly Republican Leader John DiMaio is pushing for Democrats to take more definitive steps in addressing Senator Robert Menendez’s federal indictment. Menendez faces charges of bribery, fraud, and extortion.
DiMaio questioned the apparent lack of action, saying, “Democrats say Bob Menendez should step down, but what are they going to do to get him to step down?” The assemblyman from Warren further suggested that Governor Murphy should either name a successor or at least present a list of potential candidates to fill Menendez’s role, in an effort to push for his resignation.
Senator Robert Menendez’s recent federal indictment on charges of bribery, fraud, and extortion has reignited conversations about political ethics and the call for accountability in our public officials. This indictment has placed pressure on the Democratic Party, with Assembly Republican Leader John DiMaio leading the charge. He’s publicly calling for more decisive actions from Democrats and suggesting that a list of potential successors be presented to expedite Menendez’s resignation.
FBI agents raided his home in 2022 and found gold bars and cash, valued at $600,000.
Fox News host Jesse Watters dubbed Menendez, ‘Gold Bar Bob’ as a result of those findings.
