NEW YORK, NY – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has stated that the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic influenced her decision to buy a Tesla rather than another electric vehicle more aligned with her party’s principles. The remark comes after scrutiny for owning a vehicle not produced by union workers.

AOC was called out when she purchased the expensive vehicle after moving into her swank D.C. apartment. Now she is being asked again, why she did not buy a car made by union labor.

Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the purchase occurred “before a vaccine had come out,” suggesting limited options during that period. “Our car was purchased during the pandemic,” she said, noting other cars weren’t as readily available.

The comment follows criticism for owning a non-union made car, which some see as at odds with her socialist principles and advocacy for workers’ rights.
