WESTFIELD, NJ – Two adults and one juvenile were arrested, and a firearm was recovered after a police chase involving a stolen vehicle on September 20.

Westfield Police were alerted to a stolen white Ford cargo van at 1:26 PM via a license plate recognition camera. The van was spotted traveling west on East North Avenue. Officer Kristopher Jackus attempted to stop the vehicle near Crossway Place, but the driver did not comply, leading to a pursuit into Scotch Plains.

During the chase, a 17-year-old male from Plainfield jumped out of the moving van and was arrested by Officer Michael McCarthy. The van eventually stopped, and the driver, Kenadre Williams, 18, of Clementon, fled on foot. Officer Jackus arrested him after a foot chase on Shady Lane in Fanwood. Williams had a Ruger 9mm handgun in a handbag, which he resisted surrendering. The firearm had a magazine with seven rounds.

The front-seat passenger, Basheer White, 18, of Somerset, was arrested by Officer Joseph Natale upon exiting the vehicle.
