JERSEY CITY, NJ – Joseph Emmons, a 33-year-old resident of Bayonne, was arrested on September 20 in relation to a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Jersey City and left a 64-year-old bicyclist with serious injuries.
Emmons is charged with Endangering an Injured Victim, a third-degree crime; False Report to Law Enforcement Authorities, a fourth-degree crime; and Tampering With Physical Evidence, another fourth-degree crime. He was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and has been released pending his first court appearance on September 29.
The incident under investigation took place at around 12:30 a.m. on July 24, 2022. The victim was cycling in the area of Kennedy Boulevard and Terhune Avenue when he was struck by a red Hyundai automobile. The impact projected the victim into a parked vehicle. The Jersey City Police Department was alerted to the injured 64-year-old male on August 1, 2022, after he was admitted to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
