NEW CASTLE, DE – Delaware State Police have identified Tremaine Jackson, 28, of Wilmington, as the individual killed during his arrest on Thursday.
Detectives from the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team had been investigating Jackson for numerous crimes since July 2022.
During the operation, Jackson was observed leaving Lowe’s with suspected stolen merchandise. He resisted arrest and struck an unmarked DSP vehicle while attempting to flee.
Two troopers fired at Jackson after he continued to drive in a manner that posed a risk to officers. Jackson was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Two troopers were injured and have been placed on administrative leave pending a use-of-force investigation.
