NEW CASTLE, DE – A 56-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was fatally struck by a 2018 BMW M760 on Pulaski Highway near the intersection with Wilton Boulevard last Friday at approximately 9:02 p.m.
The man was riding his bicycle southbound from Wilton Boulevard when he entered the intersection against the red traffic signal and was hit by the BMW.
The bicyclist was ejected from his bicycle and landed about 50 feet southeast of the intersection.
He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until family and relatives are notified. The 30-year-old driver of the BMW, a resident of New Castle, Delaware, was not injured in the incident.
The roadway was closed for about four hours for investigation and clearing of the scene.
