MIDDLESEX, NEW JERSEY – An alligator sighting in Lake Creighton and Ambrose Brook has prompted concern among local residents and officials in Middlesex Borough, far from the reptile’s natural habitat.
The alligator was first spotted in areas commonly known as the Duck Pond and later in Ambrose Brook, leaving residents near these water bodies on high alert. Middlesex Borough mayor John Madden expressed suspicion that the alligator may have been a pet released into the wild. “The suspicion is that someone had it as a pet and just released it, which is common when the alligator gets bigger; they are unmanageable,” Madden stated.
Authorities suspect the gator is four feet in length.
Local animal control and wildlife authorities have been alerted and are working to locate and safely remove the alligator. Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution around these water bodies until the alligator is captured.
