GERMANTOWN, MD – Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating a fatal collision that took place on August 30 at the intersection of Frederick Road and Gunners Branch Road in Germantown. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old David Glenn Jenkins, II, a resident of Germantown.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:49 p.m., when 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel were called to the scene regarding a collision involving a bicyclist. Preliminary findings indicate that Jenkins was crossing Frederick Road from east to west when he was struck by a northbound silver 2005 Acura RSX. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Acura stayed at the site of the accident. CRU detectives are exploring the possibility that other vehicles may also have been involved in the collision.
