40 Shots Fired; Mother and Daughter Injured in South Jersey Shooting

MILLVILLE, NJ – A mother and her 14-year-old daughter were shot early Sunday morning on the 500 block of North 6th Street in Millville, according to Police Chief Ross Hoffman.

Responding to multiple gunshots fired at approximately 4:45 a.m., police arrived at the scene to find a 14-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and her 36-year-old mother with a wound to the leg.

Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched, and both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The current condition of the mother and daughter is not yet known.

Officers responded to reports of the incident on the 500 block of North 6th Street, where they discovered that approximately 40 shots had been fired. A victim, struck multiple times, was quickly rushed to Cooper University Hospital for treatment just after 5:30 a.m.

Witnesses reported a chaotic scene with bullets pelting a car and a residence in the area. The extensive gunfire has left local residents shaken and concerned for their safety.

No suspects have been identified. No arrests have been made.
