BOWIE, MD- A Prince George’s County scratch-off player followed his friend’s advice to “pick a card and stay consistent” – and it paid off handsomely! The 43-year-old, who consistently played the $5 Gold Bar Bingo scratch-off, won an impressive $50,000 as the first prize in the game’s newly launched 4th edition, which hit stores two weeks ago.
The winner had been playing the Gold Bar Bingo game consistently, reaping smaller wins along the way. On a recent Monday, while running errands, he checked four previously purchased games for prizes at T & T Liquors in Bowie. After winning $20, he decided to use his newfound luck to buy four more games. He was drawn to the Gold Bar Bingo game due to its favorable odds, with a 1 in 3.83 probability of winning.
Rather than scratching the games, the logistics operations manager opted to scan the barcodes on the instant tickets. The first scratch-off wasn’t a winner, and the next two brought $5 each. But the fourth ticket’s barcode revealed the incredible message – “$50,000”!
Afterward, the winner returned to the store and had the cashier scan the scratch-off once again. The confirmation slip in his hands solidified his $50,000 victory.
This impressive $50,000 top-prize win marks the first since the 4th edition of the Gold Bar Bingo game was released in July. As of now, seven more top prizes, along with 10 $10,000 prizes, six $5,000 prizes, and various others ranging from $5 to $1,000, remain to be claimed.
The Lottery retailer, T & T Liquors, located at 13801 Annapolis Road in Bowie, is also celebrating their contribution to the win and will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning scratch-off.
