SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced on Wednesday the indictment of Jayvon Bell, a 20-year-old Amityville resident.
Bell has been charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree and other related offenses following his alleged attempt to shoot a Suffolk County police officer in June.
In addition to this, Bell has also been charged with Robbery in the First Degree for allegedly robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint in May, and Menacing in the Second Degree for threatening a gas station employee with a gun in June.
On May 10, Bell is alleged to have held a taxi driver at gunpoint, stealing approximately $150 before fleeing the scene. On June 3, Bell reportedly threatened a gas station employee after a dispute over an unpaid soda.
Bell was spotted by Suffolk County Police Officers on June 21. Upon seeing the officers, Bell allegedly fired at them and fled the scene, leading officers on a foot chase.
During the pursuit, Bell allegedly shot at the officers, with the bullet striking a fence. One officer returned fire, hitting Bell, who was then taken into custody.
