Paterson is the Worst City in America...For Pickleball

PATERSON, NJ – If you’re a diehard pickleballer, you might want to avoid Paterson, NJ. Some might say, in general, you should avoid Paterson, but a new and somewhat odd report claims the city is the worst in America regarding pickleball.

It joins cities such as Laredo, Texas; Joliet, IL; and Miramar, Florida on the list.

Ironically, nearby New York City was rated the best spot for a pickleball player in America, but just a few miles away, across the Hudson River, it’s not the case.

In celebration of National Pickleball Day on August 8 and the upcoming premiere of the first-ever pickleball reality show, Lawn Love conducted a ranking of 2023’s Best Cities for Pickleball Lovers.

The study involved comparing the 200 largest cities in the United States across three key categories. Researchers factored in the availability of pickleball courts and tournaments, the size of the local pickleball community, and the level of interest in the sport. In total, 11 different metrics were used to assess and rank each city’s pickleball-friendliness.

As the popularity of pickleball continues to grow, this ranking aims to shed light on the cities that excel in providing opportunities and resources for pickleball enthusiasts. National Pickleball Day serves as a perfect occasion to recognize and celebrate the sport’s growth and the communities that foster its success.

Pickleball, a fast-paced and engaging sport, has garnered a loyal following across the country. The sport’s inclusive nature and ease of learning have contributed to its widespread appeal, attracting players of all ages and skill levels.
