Police K9 Helps in Search and Rescue of Missing Man in Mahopac

MAHOPAC, NY – A search and rescue operation involving State Police members from Troop K, Carmel Police Department, and several other agencies succeeded as they found a missing 66-year-old man in a confused state who had wandered away from his residence in Mahopac.

The rescue followed a multi-day operation between multiple agencies

The search began on Sunday after the man’s family reported his disappearance from his home.

Authorities rapidly mobilized resources to track down the missing individual.

As the search progressed, investigators received information indicating that the man had been spotted entering a nearby wooded area. This led to a concentrated effort to comb through the dense terrain to locate him.

After two days of relentless searching, the breakthrough came on Monday when Trooper Porteus and his loyal K9 companion, Jet, made a remarkable discovery. Roughly a quarter-mile into the wooded area, they found the missing man alive and conscious, though in need of medical assistance.
