GAITHERSBURG, MD – A Montgomery County woman had every reason to smile as she won an impressive $31,714 prize on a FAST PLAY Gold Fish ticket. For Lottery publicity, she is using the nickname “Disco.”
The lucky winner purchased the $2 ticket at Giant #192 in Gaithersburg on Wednesday, July 19. She went to her car to check if it was a winner and used the Lottery app on her smartphone. The app directed her to “Go to Lottery,” piquing her curiosity. She decided to take a closer look at the ticket, where she saw three turtles under the progressive jackpot line, confirming her win. Excited about the news, she immediately called her mom to share the fantastic update.
“Disco” is an avid player of scratch-offs and FAST PLAY games and has been playing for a long time. This time, she didn’t plan to buy a ticket when she visited the store to buy rice, but a gut feeling led her to try her luck at the Lottery vending machine.
“Something told me to buy a ticket. I went with my gut,” she explained.
The 34-year-old educator hasn’t made a final decision on how to use the money yet, but she plans to purchase a new car and put the rest of the prize into her savings account.
The Giant #192 at 18250 Flower Hill Way in Montgomery County, where she purchased the winning ticket, will also benefit from her big win. They will receive a 1% bonus of $317.13 from the Maryland Lottery for selling the $31,713 winning ticket.
The FAST PLAY Gold Fish game began on September 5, 2022, and “Disco” is the fifth of 20 progressive jackpot winners. There are still many winning Gold Fish tickets available, offering prizes ranging from $2 to $1,000, as well as the jackpot.
