Air Quality Alert Issued for New York City, Possible Rainy Day Ahead

NEW YORK, NY Today, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 pm. The day will be partly sunny, with a high temperature near 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The southwest wind will start off light and gradually shift to the south at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Moving into tonight, there remains a chance of showers and thunderstorms, followed by showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 am. The sky will be mostly cloudy, and the temperature will drop to around 78 degrees. The south wind of around 9 mph will persist.

The chance of precipitation is 60%, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, although higher amounts are possible during thunderstorms.

Sunday will bring showers and possibly a thunderstorm to New York City. The day will be cloudy, with a high temperature near 81 degrees.

The south wind will be between 9 to 11 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%, with new rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

In addition to the weather, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for several counties, including New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Westchester, and Rockland counties.

This advisory will be in effect from 11 am to 11 pm EDT on Saturday.
