Mastic Beach Man Indicted for String of Burglaries in Suffolk County

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Kenneth Eckhoff, a 70-year-old resident of Mastic Beach, has been recently indicted by District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney on seven counts of third-degree burglary. The charges relate to a series of commercial burglaries Eckhoff allegedly committed across Suffolk County in a span of slightly over a month.

Eckhoff is believed to have burglarized seven businesses from May 21, to June 25, all located within the jurisdiction of Suffolk County Police Department. Entry to the businesses was gained by Eckhoff allegedly removing glass or door panels.

The affected businesses include Carpet Depot in Lake Grove, Villa Grazie Pizza and Rainbow Shops in Centereach, Jiffy Lube in Selden, Coachella Nail Spa in Lake Grove, and Islander Laundromat in Farmingville.

Eckhoff was arrested by the Suffolk County Police Department on June 27. He was arraigned on Wednesday, before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro and his bond was set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $800,000 partially secured bond. His next court date is scheduled for July 27. Eckhoff’s legal representation is provided by the Legal Aid Society.
