WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington D.C. Metro Police Department has announced an arrest has been made in the murder of 25-year-old Maxwell Emerson.

Emerson, a social studies teacher from Kentucky, was shot and killed last Wednesday in Northeast D.C. He was in town with his brother and mother for a few days for the Fourth of July. He was also to attend a workshop for teachers at the Library of Congress. Emerson was a wrestling assistant coach at Oldham County High School in La Grange, Kentucky.

Shortly after 8 am last Wednesday, Emerson was shot at the 600 Block of Alumni Lane. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
