Stabbing Incident in Utica Leads to Quick Arrest

UTICA, NY – An altercation on Monday, around 10:50 AM on the 1000 block of West St resulted in a stabbing. The Utica Police Department and Utica Fire units were dispatched to the scene upon report.

The victim reported that the suspect, later identified as Jerry Turner, 34, of Utica, produced a knife during the argument and inflicted a wound on his leg. A BOLO was promptly disseminated to all responding officers based on the suspect description provided by the victim. On-site, the Utica Fire Department successfully applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg, halting the bleeding before his transportation to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.

Minutes later, officers apprehended Turner on the 200 block of Genesee St. After confirming his identity, Turner was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
