Thief, Carjacker gets 7 years in prison

BUFFALO, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced on Friday, that 39-year-old Edward T. Turner of Buffalo was sentenced to 7 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.

The sentence came in response to multiple crimes committed in late 2021. On November 13, Turner robbed a West Chippewa Street business, gesturing a concealed weapon and stealing cash from the register. Two weeks earlier, on October 27, Turner stole several bottles of cologne from a store on Amelia Drive, Orchard Park, before entering an occupied vehicle and threatening the female victim.

He attempted to drive away with the victim’s children in the vehicle, but they were able to escape. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned the following day with a stolen bottle of cologne inside. Turner pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree and one count of Robbery in the Second Degree on May 18.
