WEST EDGEWATER, MD – As part of her family’s birthday tradition, a woman from Prince George’s County, Maryland, received scratch-off tickets as gifts. However, her birthday celebration took an extraordinary turn when she uncovered a $50,000 prize while playing a Gold X50 scratch-off game.
The woman’s name was not released officially by the Maryland Lottery.
The 29-year-old winner, who chose to be identified as “Journey” for Lottery publicity, was enjoying her birthday with loved ones when she scratched off the gifted ticket. Overwhelmed with disbelief, she described the moment as feeling incredibly rich and expressed her gratitude for the unexpected birthday present.
Although she plays the Lottery only once or twice a year, “Journey” has always been considered lucky by her friends and family due to her frequent wins. With her prize money, she plans to pamper her dog, “Cali girl,” with some treats, treat herself to a memorable night out, and wisely invest the remaining funds in savings.
The lucky store that sold the winning ticket, High’s #071 located at 116 Central Avenue West in Edgewater, also shares in the celebration and can proudly claim its status as a fortunate retailer.
