MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has reported the arrest of John Green, a 65-year-old Washington Township resident, on charges relating to maintaining a child abuse network and possession of child sexual abuse materials.

The charges against Green, announced by First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, include one count of endangering the welfare of a child in relation to maintaining a file sharing program of child sexual abuse materials, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child by possessing such materials.

The investigation was sparked by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, which identified potential child sexual abuse materials on a BitTorrent site in Morris County. Further investigation unveiled numerous media files depicting alleged sexual exploitation or abuse of minors on the site. A subsequent search of Green’s electronic devices revealed additional suspected child sexual abuse materials.

Green was arrested on these charges on June 2, and was detained in the Morris County Correctional Facility as of Monday.
