WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pregnant 22-Year-Old Samya Gill of Maryland was shot and killed, and another man was shot late yesterday morning in Southeast D.C. The Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department is investigating the shooting, which took place at the 300 Block of 37th Street.
Shortly after 11 am, officers arrived at the 3900 Block of Minnesota Avenue to investigate a shooting report. Police found two gunshot victims, a pregnant woman, and an adult man. Both victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. At the hospital, the woman gave birth. The baby is listed in critical condition. Samya Gill died at the hospital. The male victim is expected to survive.
An initial investigation revealed that the shooting occurred a few blocks from where police fund the victims, at the 300 Block of 37th Street.
According to authorities, surveillance footage captured the incident, revealing two individuals inside a white four-door sedan. The footage shows the suspects exiting their vehicle, armed with assault rifles, and discharging rounds into the victims’ vehicle.
