Paramus, NJ – The Paramus Police Department arrested three teenagers believed to be part of a crew responsible for multiple car thefts from Connecticut to New Jersey.
The first arrest took place when a Paramus police officer noticed a black BMW 530 with a lone occupant in the parking lot of a medical building adjacent to the dealership.
A check of the license plate revealed that it had been reported stolen and the 16-year-old driver was arrested.
At the same time, police pursued a 16-year-old who was part of a group fleeing on foot after being spotted in the service bay of the Mercedes Benz of Paramus dealership. Officers apprehended a 13-year-old from the group. Both of the fleeing individuals were found to be in possession of key fobs stolen from the dealership.
The two 16-year-olds are both residents of the Bronx and the younger suspect is from Manhattan. All three teenagers have been issued delinquency complaints and are required to appear before a judge in the Family Part of the Superior Court in Hackensack.
The charges they face include burglary, possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest.
Following the arrests, the parents and guardians of the teenagers were contacted, and arrangements were made for their pickup.
