RICHMOND HILL, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz reported on Thursday the arraignment of Tamir Khan, 22, of Richmond Hill, on charges including aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and several other offenses. These charges relate to a collision in Richmond Hill on Monday morning that left two men dead.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:24 a.m., when Khan, driving a gray Audi A4, reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of 117th Street and 111th Avenue.
He then collided with a silver 2001 Toyota Camry that was heading westbound on 111th Avenue. The driver of the Camry, Inderdeo John, 64, also of Richmond Hill, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A 71-year-old passenger in the Camry also died from injuries sustained in the collision. Khan’s blood alcohol content was reported at .09 percent at the time of the incident.
Khan faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 9.
