WASHINGTON, D.C. – Authorities from the Metropolitan Police Department are reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect connected to a shooting that left 17-year-old Brendan Ofori of Maryland dead. The incident happened on a Metro railcar on Sunday morning while the railcar was in transit to the Waterfront Metro Station, situated in Southwest D.C.
Metro Transit Police and MPD officers promptly responded to a report of a shooting victim inside the Navy Yard Metro Station on the 300 block of M Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. Officers located the teen who had been shot. Ofori was pronounced dead at the site.
During the initial investigation, it was determined that the shooting took place inside the railcar while it was en route to the Waterfront Metro Station. The train operator became aware of the incident when the train reached the Navy Yard Metro Station, prompting them to halt the train and notify the police.
