21-year-old arrested for hate crime at NYC synagogue

Brooklyn, NY – An ongoing investigation has led to the arrest of a 21-year-old male in Brooklyn, according to police reports. Kenneth Azogue was taken into custody on Thursday at approximately 12:20 pm, in Brooklyn.

Azogue has been charged with a hate crime, assault, aggravated harassment 2, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 6.

It was reported to police that a 23-year-old male victim was walking into a synagogue located at 139-19 72 Road when an unknown individual inside of a vehicle driving by the location threw a small rock at the victim, making contact with his leg.

The vehicle involved is described as a white Sprinter van with graffiti on the sides, which continued traveling westbound on 72 Road toward 139 Street.

The victim was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.
