Brick attack at NYC Catholic Charities office investigated as hate crime

NEW YORK – The New York City Police Department has launched an investigation into a hate crime at the Catholic Charities of Brooklyn on May 2, 2023. According to the NYPD, two unknown individuals acted in concert and threw a brick through the glass door of the charity’s building located at 161 Joralemon Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:10 AM, and both individuals fled onto a southbound 2 train at the Borough Hall/Court Street subway station. The attack resulted in shattered glass, and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.

The police department has released media footage obtained from the vicinity of the crime scene and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals involved in the incident.
