BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – In a series of incidents, Berkeley Township Police arrested two men on outstanding warrants. On April 8, Patrolman Shane Leighton and Officer Michael Gallicchio responded to Lacey Police Department and took Gerard Heany, 46, of Berkeley Township into custody. Heany had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, amounting to $1,000. He was processed and transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with the warrant arrest. Heany was later remanded to the Ocean County Jail.
In a separate incident on April 11, Patrolman Drew Fanara and Patrolman Evan Burton responded to the area of Eastern Soccer Field for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered that the vehicle was unregistered, uninsured, and had fictitious plates.
The driver, identified as Aidan Balasia, 20, of Bayville, was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Lakehurst, amounting to $1,500. Balasia was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and charged with unregistered vehicle, fictitious plates, and driving without insurance. Balasia was also remanded to the Ocean County Jail.
