Jersey City police investigating deadly shooting of North Carolina man

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 23-year-old man, Khalil King of Fayetteville, North Carolina, which occurred on Danforth Avenue in Jersey City yesterday.

At approximately 12:00 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Danforth Avenue. Responding officers found the unresponsive male victim inside a retail establishment located at 152 Danforth Avenue with an apparent gunshot wound. King was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:16 a.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities are actively investigating the case and have not made any arrests at this time.
