LAUREL, DE – Delaware State Police have identified Corey Mumford, 18, of Laurel, as the victim of a homicide that took place on Friday. The Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident and is urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward.
On April 14, 2023, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to a shooting near the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Wexford Village Apartments.
“When officers arrived, they located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds behind one of the apartment buildings,” DSP said in a statement. “The officers began CPR and attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived on scene. The victim was then transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased.”
The victim’s identification is being withheld until notification is made to the family.
