CAMBRIDGE, MD – On April 9, at approximately 11:16 am, CPD officers located Marchand Bonner, 29, of Cambridge, during a traffic stop involving a weapon and CDS violation. Bonner was found to have an active Dorchester County arrest warrant through the Maryland State Police.
Bonner appeared to attempt to flee from the officers, driving at excessive speeds before stopping in the Leonard’s Grove Apartments Complex area. Bonner then tried to run into an apartment with a backpack, which he unsuccessfully attempted to discard.
Officers detained Bonner and found a loaded handgun, 2.78 pounds of cannabis, and $1,947 in cash in his backpack. Bonner was arrested and transported to CPD for processing. He was found to be prohibited from possessing a firearm and faces multiple charges, including firearm drug trafficking crime, possession with intent to distribute cannabis, and driving without a license. Bonner had his initial appearance before a Court Commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.
He was arrested and processed at CPD. After his initial appearance, Bonner was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.
The warrant stemmed from a traffic stop conducted by Maryland State Police on August 17, 2021, in the Cambridge area. Bonner now faces additional charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, handgun in vehicle, and firearm use in a felony or violent crime.
