Police continue investigation of armed robbery at Newark smoke shop

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Police Department has not given up their search for two suspects wanted for robbing a smoke shop in the city at gunpoint.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying two suspects involved in an armed robbery at Cloud Depot Vape and Smoke Shop on March 25.

On Monday, Frage released photos of the wanted fugitives.

Police responded to a call about the robbery, which occurred at approximately 9:12 p.m. at the store located at 273 Lafayette Street. Two suspects walked into the business, and the first one, a black male, brandished a weapon after the store employee showed them cigars in the display case.

The victim attempted to defend himself but was injured when the suspect hit him in the head with the gun.

One suspect, identified by police as a black female, took an unknown amount of money from the register, and they both ran from the store eastbound on Lafayette Street.

The second suspect who held the gun, was described as having a medium build and was wearing a green bubble jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots. Suspect #2 has a thin build and was wearing all-black clothing.

Police ask that anyone with information about the suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
