LONG BEACH, CA – Long Beach Police are actively investigating two unrelated overnight shootings that left two people injured, including a woman in critical condition. The first incident occurred just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, near Hill Street and Lemon Avenue. A man walking in the area was approached by an unknown male suspect who demanded his belongings. Although the man complied, the suspect shot him in the lower body before fleeing the scene on foot.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived to treat the victim, who refused medical attention and declined to cooperate with investigators. Police stated that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The second shooting took place around 5 a.m. on Friday, in the 5100 block of Via Veranada, near the Carmelitos housing complex. A woman standing near a residence was struck in the upper body by gunfire from an unknown direction. She was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel and remains in critical but stable condition.
Currently, no suspect information is available for either shooting. The Long Beach Police Department urges anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.
