Philadelphia Police Seek Public's Help in Identifying Armed Robbery Suspect

PHILADELPHIA, PA – On the evening of April 5, 2023, a 62-year-old female became the target of an attempted armed robbery while she was retrieving items from her car on the 2700 block of Brown Street. The suspect, an unknown black male, approached the victim from behind, pointed a revolver at her face, and ordered her not to move.

A passerby noticed the situation and stepped in to help. The suspect then backed away from the victim, fired a shot at the intervening passerby, and ran away from the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and nothing was taken.

The suspect arrived at the location in a compact four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda 3, and another unknown suspect drove the car away after the robbery. The primary suspect is described as a black male in his teens with a thin build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with wide light-colored drawstrings.

The Philadelphia Police Department is urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact 911 immediately or to submit a tip via telephone at 215.686.TIPS (8477) or by texting a tip to 215.686.TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted through an electronic form to remain anonymous. All tips will be kept confidential.
