MINEOLA, NY – Cynthia Ciaccio, a 62-year-old West Hempstead resident, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of failing to pay income taxes between 2017 and 2020, resulting in over $49,000 in back taxes, according to Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly. Ciaccio worked as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for a Maspeth-based company and had an income of over $400,000 each year during the period in question.

After an extensive investigation by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Ciaccio was charged with Criminal Tax Fraud in the Third Degree, Personal Income and Earnings Taxes: Repeated Failure to File, and Criminal Tax Fraud in the Fifth Degree.

Ciaccio faces up to 2-1/3 to 7 years in prison if convicted of the top count.

DA Donnelly stated that no one is above the obligation to pay taxes and that those who evade this responsibility will be prosecuted.
