Berkeley Township Provides Free Child Passenger Safety Seat Safety Inspections

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Berkeley Township’s Mayor Carmen Amato and Police Chief Kevin Santucci have collaborated to promote child safety by announcing a new initiative. The Berkeley Township Police Department, in partnership with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, will be providing free Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspections in the township. The purpose of these inspections is to ensure that children’s safety seats are appropriately installed in vehicles and fit the child’s age and size.

Certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians will be available to provide assistance to parents and caregivers during the inspections. They will be available on the third Wednesday of every month from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Bayville Volunteer Fire Co., located on Route 9 in Bayville. CPS technicians will be on hand to answer any questions about the child’s safety seat, such as whether it is properly installed, if it is the right seat for the child, and when it is appropriate to transition to a booster seat or travel without one.
