WASHINGTON, DC – The D.C. Metro Police Department has announced the arrest of 3-year-old Roscoe Rosborough, a suspect alleged to have lit a person’s hair on fire, who was arrested and charged on Thursday.

Rosborough, of Temple Hills, MD, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and simple assault. Police say the incident could be escalated to a hate crime.

On Friday, February 17, at around 2 am, Rosborough approached the victims at the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.

“The suspect struck one of the victims with an unknown object and lit one of the victim’s hair on fire with a lighter,” the DC Metro Police Department said in a statement today. “The victim who was struck with an unknown object suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The other victim did not sustain any injuries.”

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this offense as potentially being motivated by hate or bias.
